Day 29 - The Bare Necessities

Today, we stayed in Itaituba to regroup, fix motorcycles, get spare parts, clean things up, do laundry, and mend tired and injured bodies.

After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we set out to find a laundry place only to find out that the whole city was without water (repairs) or electricity (a transformer blew up earlier).  The nice side benefit is that all the retail stores which have their loud speakers on all day to attract customers were silent. Peaceful.

So, explored the pier, the river's edge, boats coming in and out, the food markets, restaurants and Acai ice cream places.  We also found a Cacau Show store ... in Itaituba!?... for cafe com laite.

As of this writing, all motorcycles needing repair were repaired and are parked in front of the hotel now.  All bones needing repair were rested, bandages and "menjurges" applied. Dust was cleaned to the best of our abilities and we are now ready to continue.

Tomorrow, we head to Altamira and as we make our way to Belem, our Atlantic coast destination.  We should be there in 3-4 days. Tomorrow is a long stretch of almost 500km.  We hear it is mostly dirt.

Good morning Itaituba!

The Amazonian traveling church arrived to town

The ferry we are taking tomorrow leaving port
